April 2014 Foodie Penpal Reveal Day Has Arrived!
What is Foodie Penpals you ask? Foodie Penpals is a program that Lindsey at The Lean Green Bean set up. After you sign up, she matches you with someone. From there, you get in touch with your penpal and discuss any allergies or food restrictions, and then send a package to that person.
I was matched up with Lindsey. We exchanged emails, and she told me she is allergic to soy and chia, and tries to eat as clean as possible. She was my first Foodie Penpal with a food restriction, so I enjoyed the challenge. The hardest for me was finding a Vega Bar without chia, but I did succeed!
She doesn’t have a blog, but she has a rad Etsy Store specializing in customized birch bark wedding vases, rustic wood boxes and handmade table decorations. Check it out if you get a chance!
Here she is with her adorable kiddo! Well, they’re both adorable….
She was super quick to get the package to me. I still get giddy when I walk up the stairs and see a package waiting for me. I opened her package of awesomeness right away, and emailed her to let her know I received it. She told me she was worried since I was her first Foodie Penpal.
Come on, look at what she sent….no worries here!
And, she sent me this detailed letter about why she chose what she did. Receiving personal notes like this in the mail makes me smile! Love it!
The first thing I dug into was the Inka Corn. I’m not sure why I loved these so much, but they were super crunchy, and I felt like I was eating chips in a healthy way.
I have to agree, the Have’A Corn Chips made it into my stomach in about five minutes after I opened the bag! No picture!
My absolute favorite though was the Go Raw Super Cookies! These were little bite size discs of amazingness in my mouth that I tried to stop eating, but couldn’t. I snagged this picture off of their website since I forgot to take one myself! This is what they look like, and you seriously have to go out and get these!
These bars were great for a quick breakfast before work, and I fell in love with the Raw Revolution. I’m going to start adding this to my mix of nutritional bars.
I didn’t get a picture of the fruit strip, but I saved it for last. It was delicious and I totally understand why her 3 year old loves them. I love them too 🙂
This program that Lindsey started is genius! I love connecting with people from all over the US and sharing our favorite foods. I not only get to make friends with my penpal, but it’s fun to connect and read all of the other penpal posts!
If this sounds cool to you, head on over to The Lean Green Bean blog, read the rules, and then sign up here —-> CLICK TO BE A PENPAL. It’s super easy and a great community of healthy living bloggers and readers. I’d love to be your penpal one day!
