It’s Friday Mixtape day! I’m not sure how you feel, but I sure am happy it’s Friday! What a busy week it’s been! I have had to work a little late, and wasn’t able to stick 100% to my editorial calendar (sorry!), but I have so many great things coming up that I’m excited about.
My weekend pretty much started yesterday when I got the most amazing green facial from Room Of Beauty in Winter Park. I can’t wait to tell you more about it in the upcoming weeks. If you decide to check it out, mention you heard it here!
I want to end this week with a fun round up of some great and influential articles from some AMAZING bloggers in the health, yoga, and social media world.
Health & Yoga
1. YOGADORK: Why Every Entrepreneur & Startup Should Practice Yoga
This particular post was especially helpful to me because right when my blog started to pick up, I got a promotion at work, and I have had to juggle blogging with work and teaching & practicing yoga! It’s incredibly amazing and I would not change it for the world, but I have had to restructure and relearn how to manage my time. My yoga practice has been my biggest mentor and best friend through this whole transition, so check out the link above if you need relief from too much going on syndrome!
2. KINO MACGREGOR: Strength Lessons in Yoga from a Circus Trainer
This post came out last year, and I wanted to circulate it if you haven’t seen it. Kino Macgregor is one of my biggest influences in yoga. Her story is about strength. She discusses how she did not start off naturally strong, but the practice of Ashtanga Yoga helped her discover strength within that she had no idea existed. She just completed the 4th series of Ashtanga Yoga (There are only 6 & I bet she completes them all this lifetime), and being so far along in the practice she continues to find ways to challenge herself and push the limits. Read about how she hires a circus trainer as she strives to learn a one armed handstand.
3. HEIDI SWANSON: Miso Soup Recipe from 101 Cookbooks
I religiously follow Heidi Swason’s food blog for easy healthy vegetarian recipes. I love her stuff because it is all really simple to prepare, and she leaves room for so much variety. This Miso Soup recipe is one I have gone back to over and over, and I am always trying new things with it. It NEVER gets old. She uses soba noodles a lot in her recipes, which I love, and she’s a photographer, so I could just look at her food pictures all day long.
4. FOOD BABE: Are You Being Tricked By These Food Industry Marketing Tactics?
Food Babe seriously rocks my world. She focuses on investigating what harmful ingredients are hidden in your food at local chains and on food labels. She has actually been pretty groundbreaking. She brought Subway down by starting a petition to remove azodicarbonmide from their food because of their misleading marketing on being healthy and nutritious. She talks about that in the link above, and also some other tactics that you could be falling for.

5. MY CRAZY GOOD LIFE: Set Up Mail Chimp Like A Boss
I found about about this blogger through The Sits Girls, and this post was like a goldmine to me! I am in love with my my emails now that I have Mail Chimp set up. I can build a template and list a few of my most recent articles for my readers to click on. I can add some links to categories on my blog, or my favorite products.
One thing that frustrated me about the WordPress mailer is that it did not support javascript. Well, unfortunately Mail Chimp does not either, but if I do decide to place javascript in a post then I can arrange my email as an excerpt to be clicked instead of a full post so it looks all neat and clean. This was a great framework to start from!

6. BITCH TAPES: We Love Whistling Songs
My first job ever was at Camelot Music. Do you guys remember that place! Then, I worked at Blockbuster Music. After that, I worked at Best Buy in the media section. From there, I moved to Peaches Music & Video. And then finally, I worked at this little independent record store called Sonic Boom located across from the University of Central Florida. I look back on those record store days as some of the best moments in my life. I made some of my best friends, I was able to get into concerts by getting on the guest lists, and I got all of the promotional albums before they came out. Life was so easy going back then.
After I graduated college and left the record store business one of my biggest challenges was keeping up with current music. I read a lot of music blogs, but this one caught my attention a few days ago over Twitter. I love everything about whistling songs and I’ve been listening to this playlist nonstop for a week!
Let me know what some of your favorite blogs or posts are! Have a great weekend & Namaste!
